SYNOPSIS
Oracle’s 9i OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) DBA
(Database Administrator) certification is a mid-level certification for IT
professionals who manage large-scale databases or develop applications that are
used enterprise-wide. The Oracle 9i OCP was introduced in late 2001 and will
likely stay very popular until the arrival of the Oracle 10G certification. There
is no specific prerequisite for this certification; however, by starting your
Oracle certification journey on the 9i path, you will achieve the OCA (Oracle
Certified Associate) certification along the way.
This
certification is well suited to IT personnel, with titles such as database
administrator, database analyst, and database developer, who want to continue
on with these roles or move into roles such as data warehouse architect, and
data-mining expert. The Oracle 9i OCP designation is achieved by passing four
exam as well as attending one instructor-led
inclass or instructor-led online course.
Although
Oracle certification paths eventually retire, you may continue to use a retired
designation as it denotes the version of Oracle it is associated with. Also,
Oracle normally provides a one exam upgrade to a newer version of a particular
certification.
