SYNOPSIS RHCTvs
Red Hat’s exam RH202, “Red Hat Certified Technician” is the one core
requirement for the RHCT (Red Hat Certified Technician) certification.
This mid level exam is designed for “users of Linux (or UNIX) who
want to start building skills in systems administration on Red Hat
Linux, to a level where they can attach and configure a workstation
on an existing network.” There is no specific prerequisite for
this hands-on lab.
This exam, a subset of the RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) exam,
costs $349 USD. The exam may be taken at one of 40 locations throughout
North America. For those outside of North America, here are Red Hat’s
Worldwide Training Contacts.
This half-day long exam consists of two sections:
Section I: A four-problem troubleshooting exercise (1 hour)
Section II: Installation and configuration exercise (2 hour)
Both sections are performance-based, “meaning that candidates must
perform tasks on a live system, rather than answering questions
about how one might perform those tasks.” “In order to earn RHCT,
one must successfully complete all the requirements in Troubleshooting
and System Maintenance, and must achieve a score of 70 or higher
on Installation and Configuration.”
