Microsoft’s exam 70-320, Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with Microsoft Visual C# .NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework is a core requirement for the MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solution Developer) for Microsoft .NET certification and is a core or elective requirement for the MCAD (Microsoft Certified Application Developer) for Microsoft .NET certification. It is designed for candidates who work on a team in a medium or large development environment that uses Microsoft Visual Studio .NET. There is no specific prerequisite for this exam but Microsoft recommends that candidates have at least one year of experience developing middle-tier components and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Visual C# .NET.

Exam 70-320 is also an elective for this other certification: MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) on SQL Server 2000.

The domains covered by this exam include:

  • Creating and Managing Microsoft Windows Services, Serviced Components, .NET Remoting Objects, and XML Web Services
  • Consuming and Manipulating Data

Where did remoting, windows services and serviced components go ? I did spend a lot of time studying those materials as well and do not regret it at all, that was extremely valuable. But the exam focusses mainly on web services and is too easy.

The exam contains a lot of trick questions. I studied using Kalani's book (from Que) and some MSDN articles and scored 1006. Do all the examples in the book.
