CompTIA’s A+ 220-604 "Depot Technician" Exam is one of two exams required to achieve the A+ 2006 certification as an Certified A+ Depot Technician. The exam is meant for entry-level computer professionals, such as desktop support specialists and computer assemblers. This exam and has the prerequisite of A+ Exam 220-601 "Essentials" and is designed for a individuals with at least 500 hours in computer technology support. Users that attain the A+ 2006 - Depot Technician Concentration are usually referred to as a Computer Technician or Technology Specialist.

The official domains of the exam are:

Personal Computer Components
Laptop and Portable Devices
Printers and Scanners
Security
Safety and Environmental Issues

Unlike the previous iteration of this exam, it will no longer involve questions on legacy operating systems, such as Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. Additionally, the A+ 220-604 exam will involve a large amount of questions that deal with soft skills and office communication, as well as very large amount of technological specifics in computer hardware. The exam will still ask 80 questions in traditional multiple choice and multiple answer format. The passing score for this exam is a 700 or better on a scale of 900.

I just passed the 220-604 Exam with a 840 out of 900. Know your hardware and common problems relating to them. If you already passed the Essentials exam then you are more then half way there. Go to www.comptia.com and learn what objectives you need to know. Also go to www.howstuffworks.com and read all about the different Printers, Inkjet, Bubble, Laser, Dot, Impact, Thermal Printers and all there components. Also read about Scanners, LCD Displays, and CRT Monitors. Use the Preplogic practice exam and pass the exam with at least a 800 and above.
