Online, there are two places you can use to sign up for the
Server+ exam:
Before you go there, visit one of these two sites:
Here you’ll be able to purchase a voucher to take the test. The
voucher is $165, compared to the $190 the
Server+ exam usually costs. While
that may not seem like much of a discount, $25 would help pay for a nice bit of
celebration after you pass.
Next, study. The
Server+ exam expects a certain amount of hands
on experience, and this Cramsession simply cannot help you with that. The study
part, this Cramsession, and its contents, will take you a good ways. Never use
only a single source for your study information, not for any certification.
The day of the test, arrive early, go over you notes one more
time, then head into the testing room alone. You’ll be given either scratch
paper or one of those erasable boards. Jot down what you can recall. Lists are
always good (e.g., Difference between differential and incremental, SCSI cable
lengths, troubleshooting utilities, etc). Then, be calm and start the test.
When you click to begin, you’ll be faced with 80 of some of the
most difficult test questions you ever will see on any certification exam.
You’ll need to score at least 75 percent (that’s right, a high C) to pass.
Topics will be disaster recovery; troubleshooting and problem determination;
configuration; proactive maintenance; upgrading; environment and installation.
You will be able to mark any questions you want to recheck. Testing time is 90
minutes. Here are a couple of Cramsession articles that offer some test taking
survival advice:
Good luck.
