Cisco has been busy recently with announcements for both new and retiring exams. For exams that are soon to retire, you may schedule these 6 weeks in advance. Please note, in the event you fail, you must wait at least 72 hours before a retake.
In the following list of retiring exams, note that replacement exam numbers are in brackets.
July 25, 2003 is the last day to register for the 640-025 CID exam (642-871 ARCH).
September 30, 2003 is the last day to register for the following exams:
640-100 MCSN (642-501 SECUR)
9E0-111 CSPFA (642-521 CSPFA)
9E0-121 CVPN (642-511 CSVPN)
9E0-131 CSI (642-541 CSI)
November 1, 2003 is the last day to register for the 9E0-100 CSIDS exam (642-531 CSIDS).
In terms of the CCIE, Cisco's premiere certification, you may now pass any of the currently available CCIE written exams (with one exception) to satisfy the testing requirement for recertification. "For instance, if a CCIE originally received certification by passing the Routing and Switching exam, he or she can receive recertification credit by taking and passing the written CCIE Security exam." The one exception is the Recertification Access Exam (#350-008), which will stay active until the end of July 2003.
